We’ve all been friends since school but due to crazy lives and very different work schedules – Linda’s a doctor, Róisín’s a pharmacist, Miriam’s an archetect and I’m a teacher – getting us all together for longer than drinks or lunch is a rarity! Miriam moved to London almost 9 months ago and with Linda moving to Australia during the summer, it was time to have a girls’ weekend away!
This is a quick run-down, diary style, post about what we did over the weekend and I’ve included a short vlog too. We did a couple of things that aren’t your typical “touristy” things to do which was nice – I hope you enjoy!
We landed in London early on the Friday morning, we were staying with Mir so she had breakfast ready – she’s a serious gem!
On Friday evening we went to ‘Wahaca‘ on Southbank for some casual tapas-style food and cocktails before heading to Wicked at the Apollo. I cannot highly recommend Wicked enough, it was so incredible! Miriam and I took singing lessons together in Secondary School and know every song in the entire musical, I wasn’t the most talented of singers so it was gas!
After Wicked we went to Gordon’s Wine Bar for a glass of wine – super old bar with relics everywhere, very atmospheric!
On Saturday morning we cycled to the Borough Markets, we had lunch, homemade Pimms, the best doughnut I’ve ever tasted and wandered aimlessly! In the afternoon we strolled through St. James’s Park, stopped off at the regular tourist spots and hit up Oxord Street for the sales – dangerous!
For dinner we went to Pasta Brown‘s which was a beautiful Italian, really good food!
Afterwards, we went to The Shard – a 95 storey building – for drinks, over-looking the city. This was such a gorgeous experience and so worth a visit if you’re in London.
On Sunday morning, we went for brunch in Shoreditch and then to the Flower Market on Columbia Road. This was such a lovely way to spend our last morning. We also dropped into Lily Vanilli for dessert and coffee – the most Instagrammable cafe I’ve ever been in!
This will probably be the last time the four of us spend this much time together for the foreseeable future and it was such a special weekend, these girls are the sort of friends that pick up where we left off, regardless of how long it’s been.
If you’ve any questions about the places we visited, please feel free to ask below or on social media – I’m always happy to help!
With love,
Lorraine
