Hello! While I’ve been posting very regularly on social media, it’s been quite a while since I’ve written a full blog post, but now I’m finally back with a new one!
A couple of weeks ago we headed to the annual Hunt Ball in Laois. This has become the highlight of my January over the past few years! I take a break during January, after all the socialising over Christmas, so the ball is the perfect excuse to get dressed up again. It’s black tie, so, as you can imagine, I’m always in my element!
Last July, while we were in Vietnam, I had a couple of pieces tailor-made and this dress is one of those little gems! We went to a really good tailor in Hoi-An, you can find them on Facebook here – Canali Custom Tailor. I know that few of you will be heading off to Vietnam so I’ve found an outfit that is quite similar. I love the full-skirt, you literally feel like twirling all night! Full skirts really are more fun!
I found a similar skirt and top in Coast, which as we know, is infamous for it’s occasion-wear:
I had my hair done by Amanda in Sharon and Jackie’s Hair Salon, Castlecomer, Co. Kilkenny. I have been going to Amanda for about 3 months for all my up-styles and I find her fantastic. Often people forget about their local salon for up-styles, whereas I actually think these local salons are where you need to be going. Amanda has gotten to know exactly what I like and I’ve never left the salon unhappy. Apart from the fact that we all need to support local, you’ll benefit too because these salons value their customer base and actually care about them. Unlike some salon experiences I’ve had in larger salons, I don’t feel like I’m on a conveyor belt – which is always a plus!
Last autumn I styled a midi length full skirt as a casual outfit, you can check it out here – Doing the Midi with an Edge. Have any of you worn a full skirt recently? How did you style yours?
With love,
L x
