Athlone Fashion Trail

When I was invited to attend the Athlone Fashion Trail, on the 1st October, as a VIP blogger – obviously I jumped at the chance! I’m sure many of you saw the amazing day that we had on my Snapchat last Saturday (@styleboothique).

We arrived at Colm Quinn BMW in Athlone on Saturday morning to be treated to breakfast and an introduction to the people behind the organising of the day. From here we were driven, in convoy into town in a range of their newest BMW cars and jeeps, between the super friendly staff and the luxury of the cars, we had the some serious banter!

The first stop on the trail was a visit to Kadee Bride – a stunning bridal shop that has such a range of unique and beautiful dresses and accessories. The accessories on the day were by Laura Hanlon, an Irish designer, and they were exceptional!

Next up was a show at Burgess Department Store with a range of ladies and menswear, including, Fiorelli, Tommy Hilfiger, Barbour and Salsa Jeans, to name but a few! We also had a second show, the final one of the day, at Burgess Department Store in the evening. At Burgess’ there is a personal shopper available to offer style advice and to assist you in buying that perfect outfit. The staff were incredibly friendly and couldn’t help us enough in finding anything we wanted on the day.

Then came the beautiful Olivia Danielle – a shop that offers both Irish and Premium International designers. All the staff at Olivia Danielle’s are experienced fashion stylists and you can tell; from the moment you enter the shop you feel an air of glamour and style.dsc01250

dsc01260 Athlone Town Centre had two shows – one before and one following lunch, they were filled with all of our highstreet favourites, including Topshop, River Island, Oasis, Marks and Spencers, and Born Clothing, among many others, all of which are situated in the centre itself.

Lucnh was such a gorgeous set-up by the Fatted Calf, also located at Athlone Town Centre. We were seated within the centre itself and they really pulled out all the stops with both the food and the decor.

The show at Boutique Clodagh showcased pieces from brands such as InWear, and a variety of other European brands including the French brand, Les Filles de Neaux.

One of my favourite shows of the day was the one held in Nell’s Closet, this little gem of a shop is the ideal location to find that special cocktail dress, wedding guest outfit or that all important Mother of the Bride outfit. To be honest, the shop is so pretty, it’s worth a visit in itself – run by two sisters who clearly have impeccable taste.

We also got to see pieces of contemporary jewellery from Celtic Roots,  by Irish artist, Helen Conneely. The pieces are carved and sculpted from bogwood, each is unique and has it’s own story.

With a wrap-up party held in the Radisson Blu Hotel, including cocktails and yet more food, we could not have asked for more. We were treated exceptionally well in each and every store, by every member of staff that we met. Athlone really is is a treasure trove of fashion and style with a variety of shops that suits every budget and age.

There was also a Best Dressed Blogger competition sponsored by Temple Lodge & SpaCuston Cuts Hairdressers, and Aileen Duffy Make-Up Artist. I honestly couldn’t believe it when they announced that I had won the prize! Myself and three friends will receive an overnight stay, with Afternoon Tea at Temple Lodge and Spa, AND hair and make-up by Custom Cuts and Aileen Duffy. This was the absolute cherry on top for me!

I have an outfit post, detailing what I wore, which you can read here – “Best Dressed Blogger: What I Wore” – seeing as it is an award-winning outfit and all! 😉

I hope you enjoyed reading about our fabulous day at Athlone Fashion Trail, if you want to see more images of the day head over to my Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or search the hashtag #AthloneFashionTrail on any social media platform.
