Firstly, I’d like to apologise for the lack of blogging last week. It’s just been a bit of a crazy week. I’m a primary school teacher and June is a pretty busy month between job applications and interviews so I honestly haven’t had a chance to write a new post. But, I’m back today with Chapter Three of my “Wedding Guest Style Series” – Flirting with Florals. If you haven’t caught up on Chapter One or Two, you can find them Here and Here.
Over the weekend I was at a wedding down in Tipperary. It was such a special wedding, so I’m going to share a couple of snaps of the day in addition to my outfit shots.
The bride’s home place is right on Lough Derg, the ceremony was held in the harbour and the reception was held on the front lawn of her family home in a marquee. Here are just a few photos of what was such a beautiful day.
The bridge that you see here was built by the bride’s father. He walked her from one side of the bridge, where family and friends were seated to the other, across the water, to where the groom was waiting.
I know you won’t believe this after seeing that photo but the bride made her own wedding cake! Her husband is an architect which I think was aptly symbolised in it’s design. I can also assure you that it tasted even better than it looked!
Here’s what I wore for this fabulous day..
I bought this dress in Ted Baker in Kildare Village last summer, it was just love at first sight and I couldn’t leave it behind! I’ve been waiting for the perfect excuse to wear it, and this summer wedding was just that! There are some similar style dresses available in Ted Baker at Kildare Village at the moment. I got the dress tailored on the shoulders as it was a little big. I cannot stress enough the difference it makes to get something altered to fit properly. Being on the short side (ahem!) I have to do this quite a lot but it makes such a difference to how your clothes sit and how comfortable you feel on the day.
The pink toned, shimmering metallic clutch was a bit of a bargain; I got it in Dunnes Stores at MacDonagh Junction, Kilkenny and it is currently available from Dunnes Stores nationwide. You can also purchase it online, Here.
As you all know I’m still on a high-heel ban so it was little flatties on the day for me. Similar can be found Here.
This beautiful pink rose detailed headpiece is by Niav Riley. I couldn’t believe my luck with how well it suited my dress, it’s like it was made for it! Many of you will know of Faith Almond, a lady infamous for her unique style at ladies days throughout the racing season. Faith is based in Milford, Co. Carlow. I’m lucky enough to live only a short distance from this stylish lady, so I popped down to her home where she rents out a huge array of headpieces. I am a strong believer in renting headpieces, particularly if you want something a little different and something you won’t wear again.
